Privacy Policy

Effective October 8, 2026

This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and what rights you have regarding it. By using our website or engaging our services, you are agreeing to this policy. Our Terms & Conditions are incorporated by reference.

We update this policy when needed. The current version is always posted on our website. It is your responsibility to check back periodically. Your continued use of our website or services after any update constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.

1. Who We Are

Generic is operated by Generic Companies, LLC, a Missouri limited liability company, its subsidiaries, affiliates, and any successors or assigns. Our primary place of business is Missouri. Questions about this policy can be directed to [email protected].

2. Information You Provide to Us

When you contact us, fill out a form, engage our services, or communicate with us in any way, you may provide us with information such as your name, email address, phone number, company name, and other details relevant to your inquiry or engagement.

We collect and store what you give us. You are responsible for the accuracy of information you provide.

3. Information We Collect Automatically

When you visit our website, we automatically collect certain technical information about your visit. This may include your IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URLs, pages visited, time spent on pages, and general location data derived from your IP address. This information is collected through tools including Google Analytics and Squarespace's built-in analytics.

When you use our applications after signing in, we collect information about how you use them: which pages and features you open, actions you take (for example, that a task was created or a message was sent, but not what it said), how quickly the application loads and responds in your browser, and which account and workspace the activity belongs to. This information is associated with an internal account identifier rather than your name or email address, so that we can understand how each product is used.

We use PostHog, a product analytics service hosted in the United States, to collect and analyze that information. We configure it so that it does not set cookies or store data on your device, does not record your screen or session, and does not capture the contents of anything you write, upload, or view; page addresses are stripped of identifying parts before they are sent. Our website uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is anonymous and does not use cookies or identify you.

We use this information to understand how our website and applications are used, improve our content, products, and user experience, and support our business operations.

4. Cookies

Our website uses cookies. Cookies are small files placed on your device that help us understand how visitors interact with our site.

We use performance cookies to measure how often pages are visited and how users navigate the site. We use these to improve our website. We use third-party cookies from services including Google Analytics and Squarespace for the same purposes.

Most browsers allow you to control or disable cookies through their settings. Disabling cookies may affect how our website functions for you.

Our product analytics inside the applications does not use cookies or similar storage on your device.

We do not currently use cookies to serve targeted advertising.

5. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to respond to your inquiries and deliver our services; understand and improve our website, applications, and offerings; communicate with you about your engagement or about Generic; fulfill legal or regulatory obligations; and operate and grow our business.

We do not sell your personal information.

6. How We Share Your Information

We may share your information with contractors, subcontractors, and partners who assist us in delivering services, to the extent necessary for that purpose. We may share your information if required to do so by law, legal process, or government request. If Generic Companies, LLC is acquired by or merged with another company, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

Our AI features are powered by AI providers: OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, xAI, Groq, DeepSeek, Perplexity, AssemblyAI, and Together AI. They may receive the text, files, or audio you provide, to produce the result you asked for. We ask your permission before any of it is sent. We share only what a feature needs, and we require these providers to protect it at least as well as this policy does.

We use data from Google accounts you connect only to provide the features you use, never for advertising or to train AI models. Generic's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

We use Sentry to receive error reports from our applications. They identify your account by an internal identifier, not your name or email address.

Third-party tools and platforms we use, including Google Analytics, Squarespace, PostHog, Cloudflare, and Sentry, are subject to their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review those policies.

7. Marketing and Portfolio Use

Generic uses names, brands, and content, including private application content, in marketing and portfolio materials only with separate written permission from the person or organization authorized to grant it. An individual's name, photograph, or likeness requires that individual's written consent.

8. Data Retention

We retain information for as long as is necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy, comply with legal obligations, and support our business operations.

You can delete your account at any time in the application, under Profile, Delete account. Your account is closed at once and your personal information is deleted after 30 days; signing in before then cancels the deletion. Speak dictation recordings and transcripts are kept for 30 days by default, or for the period your workspace sets, between 7 and 365 days.

To request deletion of other information, contact us at [email protected].

9. Data Security

We take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold. No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure. We do not guarantee the absolute security of your information, and we are not liable for unauthorized access that occurs despite our efforts.

10. International Users

Our website and services are operated in the United States. If you are accessing our website or services from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and stored in the United States. Data protection laws in the United States may differ from those in your country. By using our website or services, you consent to that transfer.

11. Children

Our website and services are not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at [email protected] and we will take steps to address it.

12. Your Rights

Depending on where you are located, you may have rights under applicable law to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal information. To make a request, contact us at [email protected]. We will respond to reasonable requests in accordance with applicable law. We do not discriminate against users who exercise their privacy rights.

If you would prefer that your use of our applications not be included in our product analytics, contact us at the same address and we will exclude your account.

Many of our features rely on the AI providers described in section 6, so using our applications requires that permission. You can withdraw it by deleting your account, as described in section 8.
